History of Hollyburn Chalet

Hollyburn Chalet is a one of a kind heritage log chalet a short hike from the Cypress Park Road and high up on Hollyburn Mountain. The Hollyburn Chalet which has given so much fun for so many girls over the years was leased in 1963 by the Burnaby Girl Guides and purchased in 1965. Guider Getaway - Jan 9 -11, 2009

Each winter, Burnaby Royal Area holds a Guider Getaway at Hollyburn Chalet to help orient new visitors to the historic cabin and its quirks. Guider Getaway weekend is a fantastic way to learn the ins and outs of Hollyburn Chalet during the snowiest season. You will learn what to expect for your deep snow hike up the hill, what to bring, and how to get those propane lamps lit. The weekend is also a great way to gather program and activity ideas from other Guiders. To participate, fill in the registration form located at the back of the package, and submit it to the Hollyburn Chalet Booking Agent or click here for a registration form.

Hollyburn is a rustic cabin and heat is provided by a wood burning stove and airtight heaters. There is no electricity. Guiders are responsible for cleaning.
